This time carrying the latest permanent addition to the patio, our Japanese maple! Together with the three times heavier steel sculpture \u201dBuscando la luz III\u201d by Spanish-Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida (1924-2002) these two sun bathers will soon welcome guests as they enter the museum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Japanese maple?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Japanese maple also known under its Latin name \u201cAcer palmatum\u201d is famous for its picturesque growth. Do not just take our word for it, see for yourself:<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3482\" src=\"https:\/\/legacy.museum-reinhard-ernst.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Acer-palmatum-c-Baumschule-Ebben-785x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"785\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/legacy.museum-reinhard-ernst.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Acer-palmatum-c-Baumschule-Ebben-785x1024.jpg 785w, https:\/\/legacy.museum-reinhard-ernst.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Acer-palmatum-c-Baumschule-Ebben-230x300.jpg 230w, https:\/\/legacy.museum-reinhard-ernst.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Acer-palmatum-c-Baumschule-Ebben-768x1001.jpg 768w, https:\/\/legacy.museum-reinhard-ernst.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Acer-palmatum-c-Baumschule-Ebben.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Green, orange, yellow and in fall even vibrant red hues! This color variety is consistent with the colorful abstract exhibits in the museum. Perfectly pairing with Chillidas sculpture \u201cBuscando la luz III\u201d, \u201cthe pursuit of light III\u201d, as both Japanese maple and sculpture are striving towards sunlight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where does the tree come from?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Sonja and Reinhard Ernst decided on a 60 years old specimen, delivered to Wiesbaden by tree nursery <em>Ebben<\/em> located in the Dutch town of <em>Cuijk<\/em> and planted by local company Gramenz. Currently measuring 8 meters in height with a bale diameter of 1.60 meters, our Japanese maple is projected growing up to 10 meters in height!<\/p>\n<p>Fun fact: Despite its name, the Japanese maple is native to central Europe!<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"ce ce-onecol \">\r\n\t<div class=\"container\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-sm\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"responsive-video\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Japanischer F\u00e4cherahorn erreicht das mre\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wWfF1Vj3uas?feature=oembed&#038;showinfo=0&#038;rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>Why planting a tree in Winter?<br \/>\n<\/strong>In addition of taking the constructional progress into account, planting trees in the cold season is also beneficial as they sprout new roots in winter.
